Why does windows need a more powerful computer that MS DOS?

MS-DOS is much more simple than Microsoft Windows. The whole graphical shell of Microsoft Windows alone already requires a better computer than you would need for MS-DOS. Software has also become more advanced, requiring better computers to function properly. You cannot compare the requirements of MS-DOS with those for Microsoft Windows, it is like asking why an air plane requires more fuel than a car does.
