Ipod touch white screen of death!!?

I have an Ipod touch 2g with the white screen of death. i have had the ipod for almost 2 years now and has no more warranty on it. it has been jailbroken once but then i updated the ipod and went back to normal until one month later, the white screen of death appears. i have tried holding the home and power on to hard reset it and i have tried restoring it normally and also tried restoring it in dfu mode. please is there any other fix for this because i have contacted the nearest apple store but it is going to cost me $75 just to see what the problem is!!!!!!!!!!
