How do i convince my parents to let me work?

Kasey, If your family is in the position to give you what you need financially, including all the toys, car, insurance, phones etc. you are lucky. They are lucky they have a kid with good grades and a desire to work. IF I were your dad, I wouldn't want you to work either, BUT I would because I know it will help you in the future to be a good employee. These are the years to learn just how important it is to : be on time, do your job, speak up for yourself at work, be part of a workforce, and how to talk to bosses, ask for a special day off, or a raise, or how to suggest ideas. Try to avoid the after school and /or weekend job. It WILL creep into your grades, but a safe 15-30hr wk summer job, he should consider it. Suggest you will promise to save a certain percentage of your pay, so you can get into a good savings habit for later in life.
